Sessions Vol. XV “Trouble Wading” — March 26, 7:30
Emerging composer-vocalist Shara Lunon presents an evening, “Trouble Wading” showcasing new music and arrangements alongside award-winning bassoonist, Joy Guidry.
With a musical vernacular that is a product of the evolution of Black Musical Traditions, Shara returns to the source in this evening of original music and arrangements of Spirituals. Expanding on that canonical concept to include text and sources of her personal spirituality, Shara is joined in new collaboration with Joy Guidry to weave an evening that holds the spontaneous and immediate in close context with history, hoping to “shake some history off the walls” and moreover, shake the audience from lassitude and frustration, into hope and a sense of community.
