Shara Lunon

Shara is a multidisciplinary Floridian vocalist based in New York. Her artistic career leads with a blend of operatic studies, poetry, and visual art. Shara combines both improvised and scored vocals with intention of lyric over beat heavy rhythms, and ethereal ambiance. She has toured with several bands, as well as two solo tours and performances in South America and Europe.

Shara received her undergraduate degree in Ethnomusicology from the University of Florida and Vocal Certificate from the University of São Paulo. She is currently attending The New School for graduate school in Performance and Composition. Throughout her studies, Shara continuously focused on collaboration and improvised arts, and has worked with several art collectives and with the Nordic Black theater in Oslo. Additionally, she has published poetry in numerous art publications, with some recent work featured in the Gothamist.  

With her graduate studies, Shara intends to broaden her understanding of voice and composition in order to create afrofuturisric operatic works.
