Amanda + James presents Sessions Vol XVI: Objects of Desire featuring polymath vocalist Sophie Delphis in a program of scintillating modernist chamber works.
The program includes Schoenberg’s Das Buch der hängenden Gärten, Eve Beglarian’s She Gets to Decide and Ravel’s Trois poèmes de Mallarmé , exploring the varied and reifying ambiguities, pleasures consequences of desire: both the desirer and the desired. Is one subject to desire or desire’s object? How does one allow desire? Delphis’ keen translations and poetic eye assemble a program of lush, rarely performed work that will both provoke and please!
