 Sessions Vol. XIV: “Apparition”

Chamber music series Sessions makes a triumphant return on Nov. 19 featuring “beautiful, physically fearless” (NYTimes) soprano Ariadne Greif and her “luminous, expressive voice” (NYTimes) as accompanied by pianist Jason Wirth.

Sessions Vol. XIV: Apparition has at its centerpiece George Crumb’s masterpiece of the contemporary canon: Apparition (1979), his setting of Walt Whitman’s Memories of President Lincoln in When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d.

Haunting, mesmerizing and visceral, Apparition is a tour-de-force performance for both singer and pianist, not often presented and not to be missed!

Also on the program: the lush Op. 38 by Rachmaninov, Alyssa Weinberg’s Blue Gradations, and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw’s We Need To Talk, written especially for Ariadne’s blisteringly charismatic talent.

Set in a new venue, the transporting and spacious Coffey Street Studio, Sessions Vol. XIV marks the return of the chamber music series presented by Amanda + James begun in 2017.

*Proof of vaccination required for entrance to the venue* Masks required when not enjoying refreshments.

Come have a drink and listen!
