Better You Than Me

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

Better You Than Me is a short film written by and based on the real-life experiences of Nicole Chaffin. 

The story follows the chance encounter of  two women, Kate and Emma, one night in New York City. In the immediate aftermath of Kate’s sexual assault, Emma steps into help, but as the night unfolds and Emma’s own well-being is jeopardized, Kate finds herself in harm’s way once more.

The film explores themes of self-preservation, patriarchal violence, and victimhood. Our team is particularly interested in raising awareness around sexual assault alongide the screenings of the film, and view this production as a crucial opportunity to expand the conversation around sexual violence. 

At the helm of the project, is an almost entirely female-led team and our goal is to employ primarily female and queer crew members for the shoot. Better You Than Me is set to shoot in October 2024 with the goal of a prominent premier on the 2025 film festival circuit.
