Sage DeAgro-Ruopp
SAGE DEAGRO-RUOPP, a native of northern Michigan, began her studies with Duane Mahy at the Oberlin Conservatory where she performed the roles of Morgana from Handel’s Alcina, Corilla from Donizetti’s Viva la mamma, and La Fee from Massenet’s Cendrillon. During her time at Oberlin she sang as a soloist with the Contemporary Music Ensemble premiering “The Sandburg Songs” under the baton of conductor Timothy Weiss. She has continued her participation in Contemporary music at Curtis performing the ‘Berio Folksongs’ with the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble. DeAgro-Ruopp has performed in concert as well as masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Mikael Eliasen, Barbara Hannigan, Marilyn Horne, composer Ben Moore and conductor Yannick Nezet-seguin. She now holds a performance diploma from Oberlin, undergraduate and anticipated graduate degree from the Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Julia Faulkner. Her most recent roles at Curtis include Melisande from Debussy’s Impressions de Pelleas, Monica from Menotti’s The Medium, Johanna from Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Rosina from Rossini’s Is Barbiere di Siviglia. In addition to opera, Sage also partakes in dance, photography, composition, weightlifting, people watching, and in depth research of random subjects.
