Laura Bloomfield
Laura Bloomfield is a writer, scientist, physician, dancer, and sculptor recently transplanted to Los Angeles from San Francisco. Laura is currently writing her first novel as a member of Pegasus Physician Writers to better understand the physical and psychological consequences of climate change. As a scientist, she led large collaborative projects across the globe that juxtaposed the broad diversity of human life experiences to highlight the commonalities that unify us. Laura’s work has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, National Public Radio, and the BBC World News as an expert on disease emergence following environmental disturbance. She is an alumna of Stanford University (BA, MS, PhD, MD) and has trained at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Laura hopes to utilize her interdisciplinary training to forge new collaborations that meet the emotional tenor of this critical time in history.
