Kristi Cole

Kristi Cole is a Queer, Queens based performer and choreographer with a BA in Dance and Political Science from George Washington University (2013, Magna Cum Laude). As a student, Kristi received the Elizabeth Burtner Theatre & Dance Award for her excellence as a performer, as well as a Luther Rice Fellowship to conduct independent dance research for which she was awarded first prize in the creative arts. As a collaborator, Kristi has had the pleasure of working with Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, Vicky Shick, Donofrio Dance Company, Alexandra Pinel, Lauren Beirne Dance Works, Georgina Bates’ Brick by Brick Dance Projects, Amanda + James, Spaces of Fontana, Lenka Vagnerova and Michael Parmelee.  Kristi stepped into the role of Rehearsal Director and Choreography Assistant with Amanda + James for the production, “Lazer Eyes”, October 2018.  She founded Kristi Cole & Guests in 2019 with the mission of bringing together artists to create powerful and thought-provoking interdisciplinary work. Her solo, IN MY PLACE premiered in September 2019 and was presented in New Jersey and other NYC venues. To create an original dance film, To Claim & Reclaim, Kristi collaborated with filmmaker, Shannon Finnell. The film premiered in NYC in 2019 and was presented throughout 2020. In November 2019, Kristi began working on an evening length piece set to premiere in March 2020. For this production, Kristi received a New Work Grant from the Queen’s Council on the Arts. Due to COVID-19, Kristi transitioned the event to a virtual platform, Value of Space: An Evening of Art & Performance, which premiered in December 2020. Kristi is currently working as an Artist-in-Residence through the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation. In addition to her artistic work, Kristi is a fully certified Pilates Instructor.
