Jay Beardsley is a nonbinary dancer, multimedia artist, and teacher currently based in Brooklyn, NY. They have performed under the direction of artists/organizations such as Ballez, Douglas Dunn + Dancers, PERFORMA, TheRedProjectNYC/Johnnie Cruise Mercer, and Katerina & Jay. They additionally work with Sidra Bell Dance New York, GREYZONE, Cornfield Dance, and MICHIYAYA Dance, among other projects. Jay’s own creative work has been produced by organizations such as Movement Research (NYC), Performance Mix Festival (NYC), Proteomedia (NYC), Dance Place (Washington, D.C.), and Dogtown Dance Theatre (Richmond, VA). Jay is also a teacher of movement and theater at various local venues and within the NYC DOE schooling systems. Jay is a graduate of the Dance and Choreography department at Virginia Commonwealth University and additionally has studied with Trisha Brown Dance Company, Sidra Bell, Jasmine Hearn, Kristopher K.Q. Pourzal, and artists of the American Dance Festival.
