Jasiel Lampkin

Jasiel is an independent writer, director, and video editor. They make work with the intention of forming community, whether their audiences gather for the characters, the emotions, the visuals, or the humor. Art is a non-individual practice; to Jasiel, art doesn’t work unless there are people with whom to share and experience it.

Since graduating in 2020, Jasiel has worked on projects ranging from live performances to toy commercials. Their senior thesis film, The Harvard Bubble, was showcased by the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts as a part of their fall season. They have collaborated with dancers, musicians, painters, photographers, and other filmmakers to produce work that is generative and engaging. Currently, they are editing a series called The Black Beginning, a collection of performances and interviews produced by LEGACY, a black queer production collective.
