Xiaoyue Zhang
Xiaoyue Zhang is a performance, video and image maker from China with mutable skillsets across disciplines, including directing, performing, producing, and dramaturgy. She is drawn to migration, displacement, disruption, and translation. She sees her process as experimentations where she collaborates with bodies, others and her own, to un-learn experiences that are rooted in colonial, oppressive, and homogenizing disciplines, and to seek the healing potential in re-connecting with ancestral, spiritual, and bodily intuitions that guide our spatial and emotional movement.
Her performance and video works have been presented at venues including JACK, LA Performance Practice, REDCAT’s New Original Works Festival, Double Edge Theatre, Ghostbird Theatre, the Hollywood Fringe Festival, the Guangdong Museum of Art (China), and the Short Film Corner at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. As a producer and production manager, her recent credits include the 2025 Tribeca Festival Immersive Program, and productions at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the Walker Art Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Tank NYC, Amant, AFROPUNK Festival 2023, Abrons Arts Center, and The Getty Villa.
