evan ray suzuki
evan ray suzuki is a dance artist and designer of Japanese descent based in Brooklyn. evan’s approach stems from a rigorous exploration of form rooted in butoh and dance, investigating beyond a linear/western compositional aesthetic through experiments with time, ritual, and abstraction. evan’s work is driven by both unsettling realities and speculative fantasies, namely the many ways that the internet influences new media cultures and shapes social ecosystems. evan’s original projects and collaborations have been presented with Amanda+James, JACK, Ars Nova ANT Fest, Triskelion Arts, Abrons Arts Center, Movement Research, The Tank, and many parks and basements. evan also performs frequently with gorno a.k.a. glenn potter-takata and The Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York. BA, Sarah Lawrence College
